WAY OUT THERE Building storefront in Jasper, Georg WAY OUT THERE
Building storefront in Jasper, Georgia probably hasn't changed in a hundred years.
The clouds looked like they were just stuck in the sky too today. Really great day.

I N S P I R A T I O N Using today's dog walk to I N S P I R A T I O N
Using today's dog walk to think about some inspirational homes and details.
We're working on a new home design, and I saw this house, which has some details that I'd like to refer back to for a tricky roof/ parapet situation....

LUDOWICI TILES We've carefully removed all the or LUDOWICI TILES
We've carefully removed all the original green @ludowci clay tiles off the roof of our job on Oxford road in Druid Hills. These date from when the house was built in the 1920's.
The client has them carefully stored in the garage, and we will reuse them on the new addition!

P O O L P A V I L I O N Recent pool pavilion wa P O O L P A V I L I O N
Recent pool pavilion was one part of a larger back yard make over design in Oakhurst neighborhood of Decatur.
We reimagined the back yard, and built a new pool, redesigned the screen porch, and changed the garage building to be more functional. We even procured all the furniture, designed custom seats and pulled together a seamless ( and complete) design!

M A K M A G I K We designed this back yard M A K M A G I K
We designed this back yard screen porch and mudroom addition to integrate with a new pool by @habershampoolsatlanta The design brings cues from the original historic home from 1924 on Adams Street in the McDonough-Adams-Kings Highway (MAK) area of historic Decatur.
We painstakingly drew the front porch and carefully reused trim details and brackets to bring a seamless addition.

Checking in on this large renovation in north Decatur area this week. We took a pretty ho- hum ranch-burger and cleaned it up.
New front entry stoop, with brick and bluestone steps, a new kitchen and family room space is a game changer for these young clients.

J E W E L R Y F O R T H E H O M E A little #Br J E W E L R Y F O R T H E H O M E
A little #Brasso, some steel wool, and a few hours of time....and I've polished up most of the original brass hardware, knobs, locksets, etc in our #newoldhouse in Haynes Manor.
Some people think its chore, but I kinda enjoy it, cleaning and saving the "jewelry" of the old house.

J E R E M Y R H E T T We learned of the passing J E R E M Y R H E T T
We learned of the passing of our close friend and early client, Jeremy Rhett this past weekend. Jeremy's son and my older son were friends from a very early age, and thru the kids we got to know one of the most interesting and dynamic families I can think of now.
We often attended his @thetigerkings concerts and parties.

I remember one Christmas party at our house where Chris Neff came and started playing Christmas songs on the piano. Jeremy asked to borrow my old acoustic guitar and joined in. The 2 didn't know each other from Adam, yet were both musical savants, and there was instant chemistry.
After that, it was like a musical explosion went off...the two played Christmas songs for everyone till late in the evening. What a fun night. 🎄🎅🎄🤶🎄🧑‍🎄🪅🎉

We will miss Jeremy and his giving spirit, and I hope the Rhett family finds some peace and I hope and pray for clarity in these days.

Loving these drone shots of a huge renovation job we were part of the team on a few years ago. We reimagined the back deck patio and added the pool deck space as well as a pool cabana building.
The other landscape changes, and retaining walls (they built a practice football field, and outdoor basketball field...omg!?!) were by @scottcolomblandscape

Measured drawings of the  Benjamin Gachet House outside of Barnesville Georgia was a great chance to get out of the big city.
Were working with our clients on a multi- phase renovation of the house, new outbuildings. and a master plan for the preservation of the property.
Interesting fact...Marquis Lafayette stayed here in 1825 when he visited Georgia on his way to the state Capital...#MilledgevilleGa
