Alan is a sixth-generation Georgian who continues his family’s commitment to quality construction dating back more than a century.
His architectural body of work includes significant experience in residential, commercial, and hospitality design as a project architect with award-winning firms in Atlanta and Dallas, Texas. Approaching new jobs with a broad base of history and contextualism, Alan believes that good architecture represents a response to a set of challenges that satisfy the client’s needs, budget and taste.
Managing his own architectural firm since 2011, Alan became a licensed architect in 2010. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and an NCARB certificate holder.
Prior to starting his own firm, Alan was a project architect with Summerour Architects, in Atlanta. His roster of design projects included the renovation of the historic Old Edwards Inn and Spa in Highlands, North Carolina, a new golf clubhouse and spa building on Hampton Island, Georgia, master planning for the City of Owls Head, Florida, and numerous custom residences in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Texas, and North Carolina.
To begin his professional career, Alan worked with a large commercial design firm in Dallas, Texas. His early design projects included ground-up elementary schools, office building complexes, automobile dealerships, and service operation center buildings for telecommunications clients.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Texas Christian University (TCU) and a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas.
While in architecture graduate school Alan earned a scholarship to study in Rome, Italy, where he focused his studies on the history of Rome and its Baroque church structures. He continues to travel through Europe and the Far East finding inspiration for his design work.
